Terms
Last updated 26 September 2026
These terms apply when you use HistoricMe (historicme.app) and when you buy from us. Please read them before you order. By placing an order you agree to them. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1. About us
HistoricMe is run by Hampton.io Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 15728356). Our address is:
Hampton.io Ltd139 Old Station Road
Hampton in Arden
Solihull
West Midlands
B92 0HE
United Kingdom
Contact us at support@hampton.io. We aim to reply within two working days.
2. What we provide
HistoricMe turns a photo you upload into artwork in the style you choose, using artificial intelligence (Google's Gemini models). You can create and view watermarked previews for free. When you buy, you get the same portrait without the watermark as a digital download.
You must be 18 or over to buy from us.
3. AI-generated artwork
- Every portrait is generated by AI and is unique. Results vary: the likeness may not be exact, and details such as hands, text, jewellery or backgrounds may contain imperfections.
- You see a preview of the exact portrait before you buy. The download is that image without the watermark, so please check the preview carefully.
- Some styles are inspired by well-known artists, films, cartoons or TV programmes. They are affectionate pastiches. We are not connected with, or endorsed by, the people or companies who own those works or names.
4. Your photos and acceptable use
When you upload a photo or enter text, you confirm that:
- you own the photo or have permission to use it;
- everyone shown in it has agreed to you uploading it, and any child in it is your child or in your care;
- it contains no nudity or sexual content, nothing illegal, hateful, violent, harassing or defamatory, and nothing that infringes anyone else's rights.
You must not use HistoricMe or its portraits to deceive, impersonate, harass or embarrass anyone, to make someone appear to do or say something they did not, or for any unlawful purpose. You must not try to remove watermarks without paying, get around our payment or usage limits, overload the service or copy it automatically.
We may refuse to create a portrait, and may remove content or stop you using the service, if we reasonably believe these rules have been broken. Our AI provider also blocks some requests automatically.
5. Ownership and how you may use your portrait
You keep all rights in your photos. You give us permission to store, copy and process them, and the text you enter, and to send them to our AI provider, only as needed to create and deliver your portraits, show any share page you choose to share, and run the service. We will not use your photos or portraits in our marketing without asking you first.
Once you have paid for a portrait, you may download, print, frame and share it for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, including on social media. You may not sell it or use it in advertising or on products for sale without our written permission. The HistoricMe name, website design and style descriptions belong to us.
6. Prices and payment
The price you pay is the price shown at checkout, in the currency shown there. Payment is taken by Stripe when you place your order. If we have made an obvious pricing mistake we will tell you and give you the choice of paying the correct price or cancelling for a full refund.
7. Digital downloads
- We email your download links as soon as your payment is confirmed, normally within a few minutes. If nothing has arrived within an hour, check your spam folder and then contact us.
- Each link works for 30 days and up to 10 downloads, so please save your portrait promptly. If a link stops working, reply to your order email and we will send a new one.
- Your right to cancel. Digital content normally comes with a 14-day right to cancel. At checkout you ask us to make your download available straight away and confirm that you understand you lose that right once it starts, so after we have sent your download links you cannot cancel. Your order confirmation email repeats this. You still have your rights if the download is faulty (see our Refund policy).
8. If something goes wrong
If your portrait is faulty, for example the file will not open, is damaged, or is not the portrait you bought, contact us and we will put it right. Our Refund policy explains how.
9. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses: HistoricMe is for personal use. Otherwise our total liability for an order is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
10. Changes and availability
We may update the service and these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to an order are the ones shown when you placed it. We may suspend the service for maintenance or if something outside our reasonable control prevents us running it; if that stops us delivering something you have paid for, we will refund you.
11. Complaints and the law
If you have a complaint, please contact us at support@hampton.io and we will try to resolve it quickly. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts where you live.
How we handle your personal data is explained in our Privacy notice.
